Huntress Wizard — Grey Talon skins for Deadlock

This Huntress Wizard model is made by Mr.Apple! Here's his twitter: x.com/Apple211820 This mod has been severely delayed. It was originally planned to be finished in early July, but a few unexpected issues caused some major delays. I'm really sorry about that! I suddenly realized that I picked a pretty terrible time to make and release this mod — right before a major update. If Valve updates the game soon and changes Grey Talon's model, I might have to remake the entire mod from scratch. :( Hopefully that won't/would happen soon... ?(I mean the major update)

Compatibility

Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same Grey Talon asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.

Is it safe

It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

How do I install Huntress Wizard?▾
Two ways. With Deadlock Mod Manager, use the Mod Manager button on this page and it downloads and places the file for you. By hand, put the .vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide.
Is Huntress Wizard safe to install?▾
A .vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 363 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny.
Will other players see this skin?▾
No. Deadlock loads mods client-side, so the file only changes what you render. Everyone else sees the default game, in every mode including ranked.
Can I run it alongside other mods?▾
Yes, as long as they change different things — a skin and a HUD work together fine. Two skins for the same hero do not: only one can be applied, and Deadlock picks the lower-numbered file. With pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.
Does it still work after the latest patch?▾
A Deadlock patch can overwrite gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.
