Yamato: Laevatain, Twilight of ruin — Yamato skins for Deadlock

Our chaotic dork has come to the Cursed Apple! This time i wanted to put in a bit more effort, hopefully everyone enjoys the mod (´｡•᎑•`)っ. Featuring: - Extensive voicelines replacement: 20 different kill lines, 7 different skill cast lines for every ability, chatwheel, and more! - Full bullet and ability effect particle color change to fit the theme, enhanced particle effect for some abilities. - Hanging cloth and chest physics. - Alternate ground dash animation, because the queen wearing puffy dress doesnt roll like a peasant. - Overhauled weapon and scabbard, the sword glows during shadow form ultimate. - Full icon replacement including portrait, status cards, minimap icon and ability icons. Author's note: the shading and coloring is optimized for base game lighting, with screenspace AO and shadow turned on! Badluck for the competitive players! Anyone can use this mod as base to make any variation of mods you like, no need to ping me for it.

Compatibility

Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same Yamato asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.

Is it safe

It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

How do I install Yamato: Laevatain, Twilight of ruin?▾
Two ways. With Deadlock Mod Manager, use the Mod Manager button on this page and it downloads and places the file for you. By hand, put the .vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide.
Is Yamato: Laevatain, Twilight of ruin safe to install?▾
A .vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 210 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny.
Will other players see this skin?▾
No. Deadlock loads mods client-side, so the file only changes what you render. Everyone else sees the default game, in every mode including ranked.
Can I run it alongside other mods?▾
Yes, as long as they change different things — a skin and a HUD work together fine. Two skins for the same hero do not: only one can be applied, and Deadlock picks the lower-numbered file. With pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.
Does it still work after the latest patch?▾
A Deadlock patch can overwrite gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.

Directly from the author's GameBanana page. deadlocktrade.gg indexes mods and links back; it never rehosts files, so you always get the release the author published.
