[WHAT IF] Vindicta's Dynamic Scope — quality of life/fixes for Deadlock
Ever seen those anime moments where a weapon builds up charge and starts glowing before unleashing a devastating shot? That's the feeling I wanted to bring to Vindicta's ultimate. This started from kas28's "Clean Vindicta Sniper Scope HUD" concept, which suggested a simple CS-style scope with the charge ring removed. I took it further - instead of just hiding the mechanic, I rebuilt how it's displayed entirely. This mod completely replaces the default, distracting green circular progress bar of Vindicta's ultimate ( Assassinate ) with a clean, immersive, and dynamic vignette glow effect. Now, instead of an annoying green ring blocking your view, the edges of your scope will dynamically fade in from 0% to 100% opacity as your shot charges up! Recommended Addon: I highly recommend using this mod with the louder full-charge audio cue. It makes the "Ready to Fire" sound much easier to hear during chaotic team fights. Also, I recommend trying my mod alongside Vindicta - Colored VFX + Tracers by mute-out ! Note: For your convenience, the louder sound file is already included in this download. All credits for the audio fix go to the original author: NickyNoo . You can check out his original mod here .
Compatibility
Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.
Is it safe
It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install [WHAT IF] Vindicta's Dynamic Scope?▾▴
.vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide. Is [WHAT IF] Vindicta's Dynamic Scope safe to install?▾▴
.vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 7,874 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny. Will other players see this mod?▾▴
Can I run it alongside other mods?▾▴
pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.Does it still work after the latest patch?▾▴
gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.Where does the download come from?▾▴
How do I remove [WHAT IF] Vindicta's Dynamic Scope?▾▴
.vpk from game/citadel/addons, or toggle it off in the Deadlock Mod Manager library. Mods never overwrite game files, so nothing needs repairing afterwards.
