Virtual Abilities — hud for Deadlock
Virtual Abilities lets you rearrange your hero's four abilities on the HUD. Hold Tab (or open the shop) and drag an ability icon onto another to swap them. By default your keys follow the abilities, so Q casts the same ability wherever you put it. Click Keys to make them stay with the positions instead: your first ability key casts and upgrades whatever sits in position 1, so you can line up similar abilities across heroes. Features. Drag to swap, on the HUD while Tab is held and in the shop. Keys follow the abilities or stay with the positions, your choice for every hero, including your own rebinds and per-hero keybinds. Your keybinds are never changed. Click an icon to upgrade it when you let go, so a drag never spends a point. Right-click the upgrade pips to undo, as usual. Layouts are kept per hero. The four heroes you changed most recently, and the Keys setting, are saved between sessions, and the hero in the main menu gets its layout straight away. A Reset button puts the game's order back. Install. Deadlock Mod Manager: install with 1-click, then start the game with Launch modded . If you run other HUD mods, move Virtual Abilities to the top of Change Mods Order . By hand: copy pak01_dir.vpk to \game\citadel\addons\ (use a free, low pakNN_dir.vpk number if pak01 is taken). In game\citadel\gameinfo.gi , add these lines above Game citadel under SearchPaths, and add them ag…
Compatibility
Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.
Is it safe
It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install Virtual Abilities?▾▴
.vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide. Is Virtual Abilities safe to install?▾▴
.vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 12 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny. Will other players see this mod?▾▴
Can I run it alongside other mods?▾▴
pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.Does it still work after the latest patch?▾▴
gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.Where does the download come from?▾▴
How do I remove Virtual Abilities?▾▴
.vpk from game/citadel/addons, or toggle it off in the Deadlock Mod Manager library. Mods never overwrite game files, so nothing needs repairing afterwards.
