VGSLock (BETA) — quality of life/fixes for Deadlock

VGSLock - Smite VGS in Deadlock Communicating with your teammates quickly is a cornerstone of MOBAs. Chat Wheels force you to stop shooting and instead spend time selecting the option. VGSLock lets you send rapid fire call outs while still moving, aiming, and shooting at the enemy by choosing one of 70 different call outs with only 3 key strokes. Features: 73 (and counting) unique call outs giving you better communication to win more games Full mouse control and access to already held mouse/key presses, letting you use VGSLock during the fight while moving, shooting, and aiming Lightning Fast Input System letting you communicate faster than any other communication system All non-communication inputs immediately close VGSLock, so you won't get stuck if you get jumped like with regular chat How to Use: VGSLock opens when you press your Team Chat Button (Set to Enter by default, I recommend using V). Compatibility

Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.

Is it safe

It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

How do I install VGSLock (BETA)?▾
Two ways. With Deadlock Mod Manager, use the Mod Manager button on this page and it downloads and places the file for you. By hand, put the .vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide.
Is VGSLock (BETA) safe to install?▾
A .vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 596 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny.
Will other players see this mod?▾
No. Deadlock loads mods client-side, so the file only changes what you render. Everyone else sees the default game, in every mode including ranked.
Can I run it alongside other mods?▾
Yes, as long as they change different things — a skin and a HUD work together fine. Two skins for the same hero do not: only one can be applied, and Deadlock picks the lower-numbered file. With pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.
Does it still work after the latest patch?▾
A Deadlock patch can overwrite gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.
Where does the download come from?▾
Directly from the author's GameBanana page. deadlocktrade.gg indexes mods and links back; it never rehosts files, so you always get the release the author published.
How do I remove VGSLock (BETA)?▾
Delete its .vpk from game/citadel/addons, or toggle it off in the Deadlock Mod Manager library. Mods never overwrite game files, so nothing needs repairing afterwards.
