Solomon Xiangqi — Chinese Chess Pieces — Solomon skins for Deadlock

Solomon Xiangqi — Chinese Chess Pieces. Author: wudong. Replace Solomon’s chess pieces with traditional Chinese chess pieces: round wooden discs with bevelled edges and engraved red characters. Bishop → 象. Rook → 车. Knight → 马. Queen → 将. Original hitboxes, attachment positions, model state configuration and break references are retained, including Rook’s original glow mesh. No hero ability scripts or particle files are replaced. Installation: Close Deadlock. In Deadlock Mod Manager, open Mods Library → Add Local Mod, import the ZIP or VPK, and enable it. Avoid loading another mod that replaces the same pieces. Compatibility: All four pieces were confirmed to display correctly in the author’s local test on build 25841406. Manager-only installation and all skill stages have not yet been fully verified. The shorter pieces retain the original hitboxes and effect attachment heights. Credits: Author: wudong. Original game resources: Valve. Procedural modeling and wood texture: Blender/Python, with programming assistance from OpenAI Codex. Character outlines: Windows KaiTi; no font file is included. Release status: candidate. Public distribution permission for the current glyph meshes remains under review.

Compatibility

Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same Solomon asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.

Is it safe

It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.
