Health Color — hud for Deadlock

Check out my Twitch . Support me on Ko-fi . Which version should I use? HP Colors v3 is the current version. Use this one. It gets all new features and saves your settings on your PC. Rewritev2 is deprecated. 2.2.6 is its last version. Your v2 settings and presets move to v3 by themselves. Rewrite (V1) is deprecated. It is no longer updated or supported. No setup needed. Deadlock uses the V2 health bars by default. You do not need the citadel_unit_status_max_total_bars and citadel_unit_status_use_v2 lines in gameinfo.gi or the +citadel_unit_status_use_new 1 launch option. Just install the VPK. Coming from Rewritev2. Replace your Rewritev2 pak02_dir.vpk with the v3 one. The first time v3 starts, it brings over your v2 settings and presets. Old v2 codes still import. Your v2 save is left alone, so you can go back to 2.2.6 if you need to. Settings save on your PC. v3 saves your settings and presets by itself. They come back after you restart Deadlock. You do not need a preset VPK. If you still have an old preset VPK ( pak01_dir.vpk ) from the web builder, delete it. It replaces the Escape menu and breaks the editor. Downloads HP Colors v3. HP Colors v3 + QOLLOCK 4.0.5. Install order. Standard: HP Colors v3: pak02_dir.vpk. QOLLOCK: HP Colors v3 QOLLOCK support: pak02_dir.vpk. QOLLOCK 4.0.5: pak03_dir.vpk. Use only one HP Colors pak02. Compatibility

Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.

Is it safe

It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

How do I install Health Color?▾
Two ways. With Deadlock Mod Manager, use the Mod Manager button on this page and it downloads and places the file for you. By hand, put the .vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide.
Is Health Color safe to install?▾
A .vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 122,572 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny.
Will other players see this mod?▾
No. Deadlock loads mods client-side, so the file only changes what you render. Everyone else sees the default game, in every mode including ranked.
Can I run it alongside other mods?▾
Yes, as long as they change different things — a skin and a HUD work together fine. Two skins for the same hero do not: only one can be applied, and Deadlock picks the lower-numbered file. With pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.
Does it still work after the latest patch?▾
A Deadlock patch can overwrite gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.
Where does the download come from?▾
Directly from the author's GameBanana page. deadlocktrade.gg indexes mods and links back; it never rehosts files, so you always get the release the author published.
How do I remove Health Color?▾
Delete its .vpk from game/citadel/addons, or toggle it off in the Deadlock Mod Manager library. Mods never overwrite game files, so nothing needs repairing afterwards.
