New Hitmarker + Customization kit — hud for Deadlock

TWO DOWNLOADS. 1. Ready-to-use mod: pak01_dir.vpk, that improves the visibility of hitmarkers and reduces them in size. 2. Customization kit (hidden in "files, archived files"): lets you change the size, thickness, spacing, roundness, colors, shadow and glow, and see the result live in your browser before building. It includes a step-by-step guide (GUIDE.md). MOD INSTALLATION. Use the Deadlock Mod Manager 1-click install button below. OR. 1. Put pak01_dir.vpk into Deadlock\game\citadel\addons\. 2. Make sure that your gameinfo.gi allows for the mod usage. ( howto ). 3. Remove or disable any other hit marker mod. Two mods that replace the same game file conflict, and only one will load. 4. Start the game. USING THE KIT. 0. Unpack the hitmarker_kit.rar using winrar or 7zip or whatever. 1. Double-click build.bat (needs Python 3.8+ from python.org , with "Add Python to PATH" ticked). It opens a cmd and the preview.html page in your default browser (if the browser page doesn't open, double click the preview.html file manually). 2. Click "Copy settings code", paste them into the cmd that was opened in step 1 and press Enter. 3. Copy deadlock folder location and insert it into the cmd and press Enter. this is needed to grab the pak01_dir.vpk from the game files to build your mod off of. 4. Find your custom hitmarker mod in the folder hitmarker_kit\out\pak01_dir.vpk. 4. Copy pak01_dir.v…

Compatibility

Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.

Is it safe

It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

Frequently asked questions

How do I install New Hitmarker + Customization kit?▾
Two ways. With Deadlock Mod Manager, use the Mod Manager button on this page and it downloads and places the file for you. By hand, put the .vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide.
Is New Hitmarker + Customization kit safe to install?▾
A .vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 875 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny.
Will other players see this mod?▾
No. Deadlock loads mods client-side, so the file only changes what you render. Everyone else sees the default game, in every mode including ranked.
Can I run it alongside other mods?▾
Yes, as long as they change different things — a skin and a HUD work together fine. Two skins for the same hero do not: only one can be applied, and Deadlock picks the lower-numbered file. With pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.
Does it still work after the latest patch?▾
A Deadlock patch can overwrite gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.
Where does the download come from?▾
Directly from the author's GameBanana page. deadlocktrade.gg indexes mods and links back; it never rehosts files, so you always get the release the author published.
How do I remove New Hitmarker + Customization kit?▾
Delete its .vpk from game/citadel/addons, or toggle it off in the Deadlock Mod Manager library. Mods never overwrite game files, so nothing needs repairing afterwards.
