Neonhorn's Various Poster Replacements (V.0.9)other/misc for Deadlock

Hello! I'm Neonhorn and I recently went through a bunch of my old art and on a whim started this mod! This mod primarily contains Blender & SFM art that is done by me directly, though it also includes a small amount of art done by close friends as well as a couple things from games or things I like. I primarily picked art I made that I either am proud of, and/or has sentimental value to me in one way or another, hence why any of my SFM art is in this. I originally aimed to replace everything for release but there were simply too many things to replace, and not enough art that fits/isn't too distracting in gameplay. That being said, it's still going to be distracting in gameplay, that's inevitable when modding in colourful images. Besides the All in One Install, each archive will list what it contains inside. Art means it contains my art and possibly a friend's art, while Interests include things like little game assets replacing things. Often times these are mixed together in the same texture atlas and is not possible to separate them without relegating an entire texture atlas to either one of these. While this mod was primarily made for me, to look back, reflect, and celebrate how far I've come, I hope you enjoy it too!~ Also please check out at least the Hideout version if you download only modular parts of it, it includes the credits!~ Here's hoping Valve doesn't just comple…

Compatibility

Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.

Is it safe

It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

Frequently asked questions

How do I install Neonhorn's Various Poster Replacements (V.0.9)?
Two ways. With Deadlock Mod Manager, use the Mod Manager button on this page and it downloads and places the file for you. By hand, put the .vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide.
Is Neonhorn's Various Poster Replacements (V.0.9) safe to install?
A .vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 2,543 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny.
Will other players see this mod?
No. Deadlock loads mods client-side, so the file only changes what you render. Everyone else sees the default game, in every mode including ranked.
Can I run it alongside other mods?
Yes, as long as they change different things — a skin and a HUD work together fine. Two skins for the same hero do not: only one can be applied, and Deadlock picks the lower-numbered file. With pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.
Does it still work after the latest patch?
A Deadlock patch can overwrite gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.
Where does the download come from?
Directly from the author's GameBanana page. deadlocktrade.gg indexes mods and links back; it never rehosts files, so you always get the release the author published.
How do I remove Neonhorn's Various Poster Replacements (V.0.9)?
Delete its .vpk from game/citadel/addons, or toggle it off in the Deadlock Mod Manager library. Mods never overwrite game files, so nothing needs repairing afterwards.
