Map Event Remindersquality of life/fixes for Deadlock

Map Event Reminders — Timed reminders for Deadlock's map events. Never miss a spawn. Features Schedule-driven reminders: weak/medium/strong camps (2:00/5:00/8:00), crates & statues (3:00), Bridge Buffs (every 5:00), Sinner's Sacrifice (8:00). Live Soul Urn alerts — fires the instant the urn appears (every spawn) + a heads-up before the first. Pre-spawn countdown — optional 5/10/15/30s warning that ticks down. Combined alerts — same-time events merge into one; never more than one on screen. Native look — the game's own announcement style, no clunky overlay. Automatic language — follows your game language (English & Russian; more easy to add). Fair play — only the match clock + what the game already shows everyone (urn on the minimap). No hidden info. Hideout-aware — suppressed outside a real match. UMM support — integrates with Universal Mod Manager: a "Map Event Reminders" section with Enable Notifications , Notify On Spawn , Notify Before Spawn , and Warn Ahead (5/10/15/30s); settings persist between sessions. Without UMM it runs on sensible defaults.

Compatibility

Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.

Is it safe

It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

Frequently asked questions

How do I install Map Event Reminders?
Two ways. With Deadlock Mod Manager, use the Mod Manager button on this page and it downloads and places the file for you. By hand, put the .vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide.
Is Map Event Reminders safe to install?
A .vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 1,718 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny.
Will other players see this mod?
No. Deadlock loads mods client-side, so the file only changes what you render. Everyone else sees the default game, in every mode including ranked.
Can I run it alongside other mods?
Yes, as long as they change different things — a skin and a HUD work together fine. Two skins for the same hero do not: only one can be applied, and Deadlock picks the lower-numbered file. With pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.
Does it still work after the latest patch?
A Deadlock patch can overwrite gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.
Where does the download come from?
Directly from the author's GameBanana page. deadlocktrade.gg indexes mods and links back; it never rehosts files, so you always get the release the author published.
How do I remove Map Event Reminders?
Delete its .vpk from game/citadel/addons, or toggle it off in the Deadlock Mod Manager library. Mods never overwrite game files, so nothing needs repairing afterwards.
