LOCK-FORTRESS: COAL TOWN — maps for Deadlock
A port of Team Fortress 2's Coaltown, mirrored and adapted to the standard Deadlock format! To accommodate Deadlock's gameplay, this map has: 2 ziplines, which form one large lane and split apart at the walkers. A third walker is at the intersection to allow for full flex slots. The usual camps, sinners, boxes, urns, midboss, bridge buffs, mystic veils etc. A custom baroness! A large mid accessible from the carrier teleports or in the mid tunnel. Escalating lava damage (5% -> 20% over 4 seconds). Insta-kill death pits. Deadlock is currently bugged and custom maps might not let you spawn in correctly. It might soft-lock you and prevent you from doing anything. To spawn in as SAPPHIRE (Only host needs to do this once): When you load into the map, select AMBER and the hero you want. Then open the console and type 'changeteam 0' to go back to the team select screen. Then select SAPPHIRE and you hero again. You should spawn in as sapphire correctly. Afterwards, players can freely select without soft-locks. Known Bugs: Aforementioned sapphire spawning bug. Troopers may ignore the first walker the first time they approach it before it 'wakes up'. Some lighting oddities with mid. Some shrines are facing the wrong way. Patron bodies are not solid the same way they are in midtown. Mystic veils do not fully behave with projectiles as expected. Future Plans: While we want to preserve coalt…
Compatibility
Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.
Is it safe
It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install LOCK-FORTRESS: COAL TOWN?▾▴
.vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide. Is LOCK-FORTRESS: COAL TOWN safe to install?▾▴
.vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 1,922 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny. Will other players see this mod?▾▴
Can I run it alongside other mods?▾▴
pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.Does it still work after the latest patch?▾▴
gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.Where does the download come from?▾▴
How do I remove LOCK-FORTRESS: COAL TOWN?▾▴
.vpk from game/citadel/addons, or toggle it off in the Deadlock Mod Manager library. Mods never overwrite game files, so nothing needs repairing afterwards.
