Item Emporium — gameplay modifications for Deadlock
Item Emporium is an Item Mod that replaces much of the shop with new/restored items! While this is a “1.0” release, I intend to add many more items and work on balance. Note that most of the icons are placeholders! Currently there are 67 new items (I SWEAR IT WAS A COINCIDENCE) composed of: 22 Weapon Items 21 Vitality Items 24 Spirit Items In total, with 175 items in the shop, 38% of them are new items! These new items are a combination of: Entirely new items/designs Items reworked to be harder to 'activate' like superior cooldown/duration etc. Street Brawl items re-balanced into standard items Old items (Like soul rebirth and ammo scav) Scrapped/Datamined items Items reworked into other categories Some items moved into other tiers to make room or just change them a bit Todo: More items/balance (Ongoing) Improve item visuals (Icons and Particle Effects) Improve tooltips The zip file contains the vpk pack and a txt file with installation and hosting instructions. The mod has had playtesting, but is certainly not fully balanced. This is ongoing based on player feedback, so if you think something is too strong/weak let me know! I also take item suggestions, but item logic tends to be pretty hardcoded. Please note that the abilities.vdata is one of the more commonly updated files, so this mod may get outdated. I will continue to support/update it but it might take a bit sometimes.…
Compatibility
Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.
Is it safe
It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install Item Emporium?▾▴
.vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide. Is Item Emporium safe to install?▾▴
.vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 2,024 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny. Will other players see this mod?▾▴
Can I run it alongside other mods?▾▴
pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.Does it still work after the latest patch?▾▴
gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.Where does the download come from?▾▴
How do I remove Item Emporium?▾▴
.vpk from game/citadel/addons, or toggle it off in the Deadlock Mod Manager library. Mods never overwrite game files, so nothing needs repairing afterwards.
