HUD Resize & 4:3 / 5:4 Fix — quality of life/fixes for Deadlock
Play Deadlock on a 4:3, 5:4 or other narrow screen with a complete, un-stretched HUD, and pick the HUD size on any screen. Only the interface changes; gameplay, resolution and field of view stay as they are. Features. Narrow screens (4:3, 5:4, 9:8, 1:1 ...): the HUD is no longer stretched and is laid out like a 16:9 screen of the same width, so nothing falls off the edge: the health bar is back (vanilla pushes it out of view) and the shop's Quick Buy column no longer covers the items. HUD size: eleven versions from 0.5 to 1.5. Size 1.0 is the vanilla size on 16:9 and 16:10, so there it changes nothing; the other sizes shrink or enlarge the whole HUD and the menus. Crosshair: shows the real bullet spread at every HUD size. On narrow screens it is round; vanilla stretches it there and shows the spread about twice as wide as it is. Shop: stays at its normal size when the HUD is larger, so it always fits; Quick Buy, souls and items take the shop's size while it is open. Menus: the main menu, Esc menu, settings, tooltips and scoreboard get the same correction. What it does not do. It does not change resolution or field of view. A narrow resolution is set with Steam launch options, because the game's video settings only offer 16:9, 16:10 and 21:9. It does not add, hide or reveal anything: every element is the game's own, only scaled and placed. Installation. With Deadlock Mod Manager…
Compatibility
Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.
Is it safe
It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install HUD Resize & 4:3 / 5:4 Fix?▾▴
.vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide. Is HUD Resize & 4:3 / 5:4 Fix safe to install?▾▴
.vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 932 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny. Will other players see this mod?▾▴
Can I run it alongside other mods?▾▴
pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.Does it still work after the latest patch?▾▴
gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.Where does the download come from?▾▴
How do I remove HUD Resize & 4:3 / 5:4 Fix?▾▴
.vpk from game/citadel/addons, or toggle it off in the Deadlock Mod Manager library. Mods never overwrite game files, so nothing needs repairing afterwards.
