Desert Devil - Mirage skin — Mirage skins for Deadlock

This mod changes almost everything in Mirage! - Model - VFX - Hero icons - Ability Icon If the mod is broken, you can write to me on Discord @snr.quak (if I don't respond, it's probably because I didn't notice you, sorry) I will update this mod periodically if it breaks again after the next game update (sometimes it takes a while, so please be patient). If many people will ask me to change something (for example, the VFX color back to purple), I will post it here

Compatibility

Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same Mirage asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.

Is it safe

It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

How do I install Desert Devil - Mirage skin?▾
Two ways. With Deadlock Mod Manager, use the Mod Manager button on this page and it downloads and places the file for you. By hand, put the .vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide.
Is Desert Devil - Mirage skin safe to install?▾

Yes, as long as they change different things — a skin and a HUD work together fine. Two skins for the same hero do not: only one can be applied, and Deadlock picks the lower-numbered file. With pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.

A Deadlock patch can overwrite gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.
