Colour-blind Soul Orbs (azure & gold) — quality of life/fixes for Deadlock
Recolours soul orbs so you can actually tell them apart with red-green colour blindness. What it changes. Stock friendly orbs are teal-green and enemy orbs are orange. If you're red-green colour blind those blend into the grass and into each other. This swaps them to a pair that stays clear: Secure orbs (yours to take): azure blue. Deny orbs : gold-yellow. Blue vs yellow is the contrast red-green colour blindness keeps, which is why I went with that pair. It covers everything soul-related I could find: trooper orbs, the ring and pop when you shoot one, souls on the ground, souls from crates and vaults, the puff when an orb leaves a dead trooper, and the souls inside the Sinner's Sacrifice machine. Only the colour changes. Size, glow, shape and animation are stock. The orbs still rise as a black ball with a coloured rim, glow while you can shoot them and go dark again when it's too late. Install. Mod Manager: add the file and enable it. Manual: close Deadlock, rename the file to pak47_dir.vpk (any free number works) and drop it in Deadlock\game\citadel\addons . To check it, kill a trooper on each side in sandbox and watch the orbs. Heads up. Crate souls are always azure. The other powerup pickups share that model, so their soul look and dark cloud change a bit too. Last-hit icons, hit markers, the soul urn and the HUD soul counter are not changed. The deny orb glow might be a li…
Compatibility
Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.
Is it safe
It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install Colour-blind Soul Orbs (azure & gold)?▾▴
.vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide. Is Colour-blind Soul Orbs (azure & gold) safe to install?▾▴
.vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 66 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny. Will other players see this mod?▾▴
Can I run it alongside other mods?▾▴
pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.Does it still work after the latest patch?▾▴
gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.Where does the download come from?▾▴
How do I remove Colour-blind Soul Orbs (azure & gold)?▾▴
.vpk from game/citadel/addons, or toggle it off in the Deadlock Mod Manager library. Mods never overwrite game files, so nothing needs repairing afterwards.
