budhud-style Alternate Health Bar — hud for Deadlock
This mod changes the standard health bar to be more similar to budhud from TF2. Standout features include colored health changes [65% from white to green and a gradient from green to red from 65% to 30%], as well as a percentage health indicator. This is currently untested on different aspect ratios, so let me know if any issues arise. It should be compatible with QOL Lock. DISCLAIMER: Some compromises had to be made to fit everything, such as shrinking some of the progress bars so that there was less clipping when multiple progress bars were active at the same time, such as Vampiric Burst and Fury Trance at the same time. Many UI elements had to be moved or resized to accommodate this health bar.
Compatibility
Model replacements are the first thing to break when Valve edits a skeleton, so re-check after each patch. It conflicts with any other mod replacing the same asset — two in the addons folder means whichever loads last wins, and the other one silently does nothing.
Is it safe
It is client-side: the file lives on your machine and other players see the default game. Cosmetic addons have not produced bans, but Deadlock is in active development and nothing about mods is officially supported. Keep a copy of the folder before a patch and remove it if the game stops launching.

Frequently asked questions
How do I install budhud-style Alternate Health Bar?▾▴
.vpk into game/citadel/addons and name it pak01_dir.vpk. That folder only loads once gameinfo.gi lists it, which is a one-time edit — check the install guide. Is budhud-style Alternate Health Bar safe to install?▾▴
.vpk is a data archive, not a program, so it cannot execute code the way an installer can. The risk is provenance. This one has 2,107 installs, so a problem would have surfaced on its GameBanana thread. Mods with almost no downloads from accounts with no history have had none of that scrutiny. Will other players see this mod?▾▴
Can I run it alongside other mods?▾▴
pak01_dir.vpk and pak02_dir.vpk installed, pak01 wins and the other does nothing.Does it still work after the latest patch?▾▴
gameinfo.gi and remove your search paths, which stops every manually installed mod at once — redo that edit and they come back. Separately, model replacements break first when Valve edits a skeleton; recolours and HUD mods usually survive. The author posts updates on the GameBanana page.Where does the download come from?▾▴
How do I remove budhud-style Alternate Health Bar?▾▴
.vpk from game/citadel/addons, or toggle it off in the Deadlock Mod Manager library. Mods never overwrite game files, so nothing needs repairing afterwards.
